The problem of fake medical claims has been affecting the industry for a long time. Having said that, till now there was no easy solution to prevent tampering or manipulation at the issuer’s end (service providers such as clinics or hospitals) or check authentication at the processing end (e.g insurance companies) that would ensure that the fake claims are rejected. The current method of manual checks is tedious, error-prone and is expensive. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being lost each year due to fake and tampered medical claims.

One way in which this problem can be addressed is to have Document Security QR Codes to reduce documents tampering and improve automation and efficiency in claims processing.

How does this work?

The idea is to have a simple but Secure QR code such that the data on the patient’s invoice or receipt can be captured within that QR code which is then affixed on the document before it gets printed either physically or electronically. Such a code is generated centrally and digitally signed & authorised by the service provider. Hence there can be no manipulation or unauthorised issuance of such documents. This is subsequently validated by the TPA and/or insurance company using a validation software or an App. There may need to be a one-time integration to be able to ingest the details in the processing system. This would make the entire claim process experience exceptionally smooth for the customer while maintaining the privacy and integrity of the data.
